Job Description:

OHIO University is seeking a qualified applicant for the Fleet Operations Supervisor position in the Transportation & Parking Department.

Established in 1804, OHIO University is the oldest public institution of higher learning in the state of Ohio & the first in the Northwest Territory. Located in the scenic Appalachian foothills, its classic residential campus in Athens, Ohio, is one of the most attractive in the nation.

This position is responsible for scheduling and management of repair operations for over 300 university fleet vehicles. Also responsible for management of university fueling system and software with yearly fuel purchases in excess of $650,000. Direct communication and customer service to those university customers requiring service from the University Garage. Individual also has direct supervision over 3 full-time mechanics and assists in ordering and accountability of parts purchases in excess of $500,000 per year. Position is also responsible for ensuring the university fleet is compliant with all federal and state transportation regulations (ODOT / FMCSA).

Duties include:
 1. Schedules and works with all university departments’ yearly safety inspections and all other maintenance of the university fleet. Utilizes Fleet Commander software system to schedule vehicles, establish work orders for mechanics, and works closely with customers to meet their maintenance needs. Track and inventory all required parts needed for repairs in Fleet Commander.
 2. Establish service and maintenance plans with other university departments. Utilize fleet data obtained through Fleet Commander to help university department leaders analyze fleet utilization and other metrics to make recommendations on fleet reduction. Use data to compile yearly reports required by the Department of Administrative Services on the university fleet.
 3. Manages university fueling system utilizing Fuel Master software system. Uses Fuel Master to track inventory, place orders for fuel, and monitor department vehicle fuel usage. Provides reports as required for Climate Action Plan data tracking and reports required by the City of Athens.
 4. Monthly billing and budget monitoring of fueling operations for entire university and City of Athens fleet Vehicles. Monthly billing and budget monitoring for maintenance repairs and safety inspections for all university fleet vehicles.
 5. Assists Director of Transportation and Parking in maintaining compliance of all university fleet vehicles in accordance with Ohio Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations.

Job Requirements:

• Associate’s degree
• Minimum of 1 year of transportation services experience.
• Minimum of 1 year supervisory experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
• BUSTR certification and Certified Fleet Specialist certification current or within first 6 months of employment.
