Job Description:

~~OHIO University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Planner with the University Planning & Space Management department.

Established in 1804, OHIO University is the oldest public institution of higher learning in the state of Ohio and the first in the Northwest Territory. Located in the scenic Appalachian foothills, its classic residential campus in Athens, Ohio, is one of the most attractive in the nation.

This position is responsible for supporting campus planning functions for the University. Position will engage in a variety of projects related to higher education campus planning, programming, site studies, feasibility studies and urban design. The planner will work in a team-based environment with co-workers, clients, and user groups.

Duties Include:
 1. Space planning including programming, feasibility analysis, development of alternatives, and analytics on the Main Campus and other University properties, as required. Makes recommendations to integrate into master plan, strategic plan and facilities planning issues.
 2. Assists with updating space and building databases for accuracy and data integrity as well as assisting with usability and availability of data for campus planning and space utilization purposes.
 3. Responds to various requests for reports and documentation concerning the functional use of facilities and space to assist University in short and long range planning.
 4. Collects and applies data for planning related to long-term campus growth requirements.
 5. Periodic building/space on site reviews to ensure availability of space and accurate inventory.
 6. Prepares proposals for and works with outside planning firms for projects as necessary.
 7. Assist Director in management of student interns and coordination of data with other department members.
 8. Assists Director in development, updates, and compliance with campus and space planning principles and policies

• Excellent oral and written communication skills for preparing and presenting planning reports and projects.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for facilitating relationships.
• Creative problem-solving skills to gather relevant information to solve less well-defined planning problems.
• Group facilitation skills for use with community workshops.
• Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously.
• Ability to manage projects effectively and meet firm deadlines.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Interior Architecture, or related field of study
• Both Education and Experience required for this position with an emphasis on space utilization and planning.
• Valid driver’s license
