Responsibilities

Principal Engineer for Traffic Planning at Regional level will lead the effort for timely completion of RF planning analyses, budgets and reports for region.

Provide Subject Matter Expertise related to BTS architecture  and LTE architecture and functionality and associated planning tools. 

Convey RF Planning, guidance and direction to markets.  Develop network evolution and growth plans. 

Oversee efforts and share with other engineers/planners recommendations on process improvements to be best in class.

Provide guidance to peers in ensuring consistency in planning policy for the region. Also identify areas of improvements where we can have automation.

Provide Guidance and Standardization for Network Design Assumptions.

Support the RF Planning manager in supporting all necessary forums, projects, etc. by ensuring consistency in planning/budgeting

Be subject matter expertise of corporate tools to include DCAFT, VPI, NPT, MPT, ELPT, NCWS, Small Cell Planning Tool, Budget Tools

Provide and lead efforts to continually enhance tools and focus on automation wherever possible.

Lead efforts associated with annual budget and audits throughout the year

Aggregate data collected from multiple sources, summarize and distribute

Support successful completion of all projects and reports within RF Planning staff responsibilities

Support development, optimization and maintenance of RF Planning guidance, policies and procedures to ensure effective deployment of financial resources

Develop and maintain effective working relationships within South Area Planning staff and with the regional and HQ counterparts

Prepare presentations to facilitate executive level network reviews and meetings

Support market issue resolution and technical issues management

Work with vendors to understand BTS evolution and growth requirements.  Incorporate that knowledge into a network plan to guide budgeting and network implementation.

Develop and monitor BTS capacity plans.  Guide regions in implementation of the plan.

Provide escalation for Regional issues to vendors and Area and HQ management

Develop yearly capital budget plan and manage changes

Evaluate the performance of solutions that come on air and work with other teams to make sure our capacity needs for macro sites, special events are met in a timely manner.

 

Qualifications

Must have Traffic Expertise

Must have LTE equipment Expertise

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science, Masters Preferred. 

RF Engineering Experience 3+ years, with expertise in Traffic and LTE Equipment. required.

Antenna Design Experience

Experience with NPT, MPT, NCWS, ELPT

Proficient use of VPI, DCAFT

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products to include spreadsheets

Proven keadership and problem solving abilities

Strong analytic, interpersonal, and communication skills are required

Demonstrated ability to work across disciplinary boundaries.

Project management experience with attention to detail

Highly Motivated//Self Starter

Mastery of CDMA, EVDO, and LTE design concepts

Familiarity with GeoPlan/Atoll

Familiarity with Forecasting – Implementation of HQ/Area forecast to take into account seasonality
